- Description
- I believe the medical community should want graduating doctors who have the potential to become excellent GPs. Part of this may be achieved through the way we choose entrants to medical school. Many different personalities are needed to allow patients a wide range of GP choice. An interest in general practice is vital. A strong ethical sense is needed, but this applies to all doctors, not just GPs. I think it would be helpful for educators if the profession considered this question a little more deeply. It would be a pity if our selection processes were excellent at choosing forensic pathologists, but picked less-than-optimal future GPs.
